Red Young Slugger Making Strong Case for Big League Promotion

In this story:
The Cincinnati Reds came into spring training with some big decisions to make for their roster. But as the spring continued on, they made a few tough decisions to form their big league roster ahead of Opening Day.
The fringe roster players who made the roster were Nathaniel Lowe, Will Benson, and Noelvi Marte, as the Reds opted to keep Rece Hinds and JJ Bleday down in Triple-A.
The decision to keep Lowe seemed to be because the other players listed had options in their contracts, but Lowe didn't.
Either way, Hinds has made a strong case through the first week of the season that he should be on the big league roster sooner rather than later.
Rece Hinds is on Fire in Triple-A Louisville

Hinds is known for his power. He's crushed minor league pitching over his career. Through his first four games of the year, Hinds had eight hits, three runs, a triple, and a home run in only 15 at-bats. His home run was a walk-off winner in Tuesday night's contest for the Louisville Bats. Through his first three plate appearances on Wednesday, Hinds had tallied another walk and a first-inning grand slam, bringing his home run tally to two in five games.
While writing this, Hinds clubbed another home run on Wednesday. That brings him to three home runs on the short season, including two on Wednesday.
Ladies & gentlemen, Rece Hinds

Hinds was swinging often in spring training, which helps make up for the fact that he swings and misses a lot. His zone swing percentage ranked at the top of the league during spring training, which indicates he's being very aggressive rather than taking a lot of strikes. If Hinds begins taking too many pitches, he could fall behind in counts after taking hittable pitches. While it would be best if he didn't chase, he's seemed to equalize that by swinging early and often on pitches in the zone, too.
As a result, Hinds ranked near the top of the league in exit velocity, barrel percentage, wOBA, and plenty of other categories. The strikeouts and whiffs were still there, but when he did make contact, it was loud.
The Reds' outfielders are also not doing a great job of keeping their jobs locked down early in the season.
Reds Outfielders Not Off to the Hottest Start

Reds outfielders have struggled this year. TJ Friedl looks slower than ever while he's chasing, whiffing, and striking out more often than ever. Obviously, it's early, but it's still very concerning.
Spencer Steer only has one hit across over 20 at-bats. Noelvi Marte hasn't been as dominant as he was in spring training, either.
If Hinds were to come up to the big leagues, it would likely be for Marte or Will Benson. These three have floated between Triple-A and the big leagues for each of the past two or three seasons. The Reds could make a shocking move by demoting Steer or Friedl, but it seems very, very unlikely.
