Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided updates on a number of players on the injured list.

First up, starting pitcher Luis Severino (lat strain) has another rehab outing scheduled on Tuesday. If all goes well, he could potentially start for the Yankees on Sunday in Cincinnati.

Severino, who has been out since the final week of Spring Training, looked sharp in his first start for Triple-A Scranton on Wednesday. The righty went 3.1 innings on 49 pitches, allowing one run, a walk and struck out three.

Another starting pitcher, Carlos Rodon (back), threw on Friday, Saturday and again on Monday. He received a cortisone injection in his back last week and is scheduled for another round, but Boone said he might not need it.

Rodon has healed from his forearm strain, but is now trying to make his way back from a back injury.

The Yankees signed Rodon to a six-year, $162 million deal in the offseason and his tenure in pinstripes has gotten off to a rocky start.

Lastly, reliever Tommy Kahnle (biceps tendinitis) is beginning a rehab assignment for Single-A Tampa. The plan is for Kahnle to throw another outing in Tampa on Sunday before rejoining the Yankees in New York. The team then intends to shift his rehab assignment to Scranton or Somerset. The Yankees want Kahnle to throw four or five rehab appearances before being activated from the IL.
