Report: Carmelo Anthony frustrated with Knicks pausing trade talks

According to ESPN, the Knicks are pumping the brakes on trading Carmelo Anthony.

The New York Knicks are pausing trade talks concerning Carmelo Anthony and are looking to get a meeting with him to discuss reintegrating him with the organization, Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN report.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News is reporting that Anthony is not pleased that the Knicks are not fully committed to making a trade happen now. A source told Isola that Anthony is under the belief he will be traded to the Houston Rockets, because the Knicks had been telling Anthony he will be traded.

A source also told Isola that Anthony went to the Knicks before the NBA draft and requested a buyout, but was denied. Phil Jackson then told Anthony he would work with him on getting a trade done, according to Isola's source.

On Friday, the Knicks reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with Scott Perry, to make him their new general manger, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Perry had been hired by the Sacramento Kings in April to serve as their executive vice president of basketball operations.

Shelburne and Wojnarowski reported that with the Knicks new front office taking shape, they went Anthony to meet with the executives and coach Jeff Hornacek. Isola is reporting that Anthony still wants out, even with the new GM in place.

There was talk that the Knicks were working on a four-team trade that would send the 10-time All-Star to the Rockets. Wojnarowski reported earlier this month that Anthony is willing to waive his no-trade clause for a deal that will send him to either Houston or the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The NBA Needs Melo On A Team That Matters

Anthony has spent almost half of his career in New York after being trade there from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. In the 2012-13 season he led the NBA in scoring and led the Knicks to a 54-28 record and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks have not made the playoffs since then.

There had been public issues between Anthony and former Knicks president Phil Jackson regarding the team's triangle offense. Jackson and the Knicks agreed to part ways last month.

Last season the Knicks finished 31-51 and appear to be going into a rebuild. Anthony will be entering the 15th season.
