Watch: Nic Batum Left in Awe of 76ers Star Tyrese Maxey

In this story:
Aside from Joel Embiid's historic scoring run, Tyrese Maxey's breakout season has been a major storyline for the Philadelphia 76ers. The young guard has left many speechless with his improved offensive skill set, including his own teammates.
On Monday afternoon, the Sixers found themselves in an afternoon matchup with the Houston Rockets. Towards the end of the third quarter, Embiid found himself with five fouls and needed to sit. This left Maxey in charge to lead the offensive and maintain a sizable lead.
One trip down the floor, Maxey had rookie Cam Whitmore defending him. After shaking him with a crossover he proceeded to knock down a step-back three. This is one of the new weapons in Maxey's arsenal, something he picked up from former teammate James Harden. After Maxey knocked down the three, Nic Batum was seen on the bench left in awe of what he had just seen.

Maxey was big for the Sixers in the second half, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter alone. He finished the game with 27 points and seven assists on 60% shooting from beyond the arc.
As for Batum, he also put together a strong outing against the Rockets. The veteran forward did a little bit of everything in the 124-115 victory. In 27 minutes of action, Batum tallied five points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.
Maxey continues to string together impressive outings as he looks to land the first All-Star nomination of his career. Following Monday, he has now scored at least 20 points in nine straight games. He'll have a chance to extend that streak to double-digits on Tuesday night in the second leg of a back-to-back.
