J.B. Bickerstaff Provides Update On Donovan Mitchell’s Injury, Cavs News

Cleveland Cavaliers: J.B. Bickerstaff says Donovan Mitchell's goal is to "stack" good days on one another.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently sinking without their All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell. They’ve lost their last three games and risk losing the third seed in the Eastern Conference as Spida sits on the sideline with a pair of injuries.

Fans are desperately wondering when they could see Mitchell return to the floor. J.B. Bickerstaff provided an update on his status on Monday evening and had this to say about the knee injury.

“He’s progressing. The nose is something you can throw [on top of the knee injury]. We’re always going to take the same approach with our guys. We’re never going to put them into positions where we can cause longer harm. It’s something that we monitor every day and as he progresses, it’s what does tomorrow look like? Then he progresses again, what does that look like? So, just trying to stack as many of those good days on top of each other as we can so that way you don’t have the in and outs and back and forth that can breed that inconsistency.”

Bickerstaff mentioned the rehab but avoided giving a specific timetable or putting a date on a potential Mitchell return.

Cleveland has lost all rhythm since the All-Star break and a lot of that can be attributed to Mitchell’s absence. The 27-year-old was putting up career numbers across the board before the duo of injuries averaging 27.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.8 steals a game.

The Cavs certainly need him back, but it’s more important that Mitchell is 100% healthy for the Playoffs which start in two and a half weeks.
