WATCH: Scuffle Breaks Out Between Donovan Mitchell and Dillon Brooks

Benches clear, Mitchell and Brooks ejected following skirmish

Tempers flared in the third quarter of the Cavaliers and Grizzlies game at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Thursday night.

With 5:48 to play in the 3rd quarter and with Cleveland leading 81-76, Memphis forward Dillon Brooks had his shot blocked by Evan Mobley and tumbled to the floor.

As Brooks fell to the floor, he rolled over and left hand appeared to hit Donovan Mitchell in the groin area with a closed fist. Mitchell apparently took exception and immediately threw the ball at Brooks, walked over and gave him a shove.

But the incident didn't end there. Mitchell and Brooks continued to jaw at each other and exchange pushes and shoves before Mitchell tossed Brooks to the floor.

The skirmish happened on the baseline in front of the Grizzlies bench and Grizzlies personnel also came onto the floor.

Mitchell was charged with a Flagrant Two and was ejected.

The foul on Brooks was initially ruled a Flagrant One, but was upgraded to a Flagrant Two.

Mitchell had scored just six points on 2-of-11 shooting. During the second Mitchell jumped for a rebound and came up holding his groin, but never came off the floor following a timeout.

He had missed five of the previous six games with a groin injury.

Cleveland took a 67-54 lead into the half, but Memphis came out strong in the third quarter using a 16-6 run to erase the deficit. The Cavs lost at the buzzer to the Grizzlies back on January 18th when Steven Adams tipped in the game winner with 16 seconds left.
