NBA Legend Shares Honest Reaction to Dillon Brooks' Massive Contract

If there's one thing NBA fans didn't expect this offseason, it was former Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks receiving an $80 million contract from the Houston Rockets. Many people scoffed at the Rockets for offering such a deal, but Tracy McGrady is actually very happy for Brooks.

In an interview with Scoop B of Bally Sports, Tracy McGrady gave his honest opinion of Dillon Brooks signing an $80 million contract with the Houston Rockets.

“I’m a fan of Dillon Brooks, and here’s why: If Dillon Brooks doesn’t play the way he plays, if he doesn’t do some of the things that he did last year going at LeBron, who was the league’s best player, we’re not talking about Dillon Brooks bro,” McGrady said. “Maann, listen. Y’all wouldn’t know who Dillon Brooks was if he wasn’t competing and going at LeBron that way, so he did his job. He got an $80 million dollar deal out of the shit he did last season."

McGrady has a very leveled opinion about Brooks' massive contract. On one end, he isn't a fan of some of Brooks' antics from a competitive standpoint. On the other end, he's also very aware that those same antics are what makes Brooks who he is, and why anyone even knows who he is.

The 2023-24 NBA season is going to be a huge one for Dillon Brooks. This is his put-up or shut-up moment, where he can prove to everyone that he's worth the contract.
