Philadelphia 76ers Make New Roster Move

In this story:
It is the time of year when NBA teams begin finalizing their rosters for the remainder of the season. This includes waiving players on both two-way and standard deals to create open roster spots for guys who are a better fit. For the Philadelphia 76ers, they decided on Friday to release former Memphis Grizzlies forward Kenneth Lofton Jr., who was on a two-way deal.
This news was reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the 76ers were parting ways with Lofton. Waived earlier this season by the Grizzlies, Lofton then signed with Philadelphia where he spent very little time at the NBA level, appearing in just two games for the 76ers.
Lofton has shown some signs of ability at the G-League level, but hasn't gotten an extended opportunity to translate that to the NBA. The longest look at the NBA level that Lofton got in a season came in his rookie season with the Grizzles, when he played 24 games. Almost all of these were limited minutes in games already decided, so the rotation opportunities have not been frequent for Lofton
Now a free agent, Lofton will be looking for another opportunity from an NBA team. If that opportunity presents itself, it will likely also be a two-way contract for the former Grizzlies and 76ers forward.
