For the past few days, the Brooklyn Nets have been entangled by the league circles to the New York Knicks for the Donovan Mitchell hunt. With Mitchell being believed to soon consider leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers, the two in-city rivals are widely viewed by the majority as the next landing spots for Spida.

But a renowned NBA analyst deflected the inclusion of the Knicks to the Mitchell sweepstakes and instead inserted an East contender based in South Beach who could go for a bidding war with the Nets just to acquire the All-Star guard.

Heat on the move as well?

With Mitchell's future in the Cavs remains blurry, Bill Simmons picked the Nets and the Miami Heat as two primary teams who could come out to snatch Spida.

Simmons believes that the Knicks will commit to a misfit if they go all in for Mitchell due to their backcourt size and Jalen Brunson's ball dominance at the point. For him, both the Nets and the Heat are in their prime and have those key assets to offer for the 27-year-old.

"This is something that's been brewing before the season [on Mitchell]. ... I haven't heard anyone say that (he's staying) at some point, this would be the test season (with the Cavs). ... It's going to be Miami or Brooklyn. I would vote Miami and Brooklyn as my favorites [to land him]," Simmons said.

Nets still on top

Miami contains considerable pieces that they can use to add another star for title contention, like Tyler Herro, and plenty of future draft picks. But knowing what happened last offseason to their chase for superstar guard Damian Lillard, it is sketchy to envision that they'll consider flushing their lucrative chips in hopes of gaining Mitchell.

Truly, on paper, Brooklyn is the best destination in Mitchell's probable desire to continue his stardom outside of Cleveland, be closer to home, and seize a team that complements his play style. The Nets can work it out based on their existing trade components and a massive draft chest.

It is truly yet to be seen if there'll be a significant sign that Mitchell would want out or if the Cavs will canvass the market to trade him. As such, the Nets remain in a wait-and-see mode as they still have a competitive stand this season with Mikal Bridges.
