Last year, Murphy III collaborated with Complex to interview 2022 NBA draftees on the red carpet. Trey commented about the possibility of him having a gig beyond basketball.
“Seeing what Draymond [Green], CJ [McCollum], and JJ Redick are doing is showing me something I really want to do,” he told Boardroom. “I feel like I can speak well, I’m knowledgeable, and I’d get to talk about the game I love. I feel like I need to get some more stripes under my belt before I do a podcast, but it’s definitely something I’m looking forward to in the future.”
Murphy III is coming off an impressive sophomore season with the Pelicans. Trey averaged 14.5 points on over 40% shooting from the three-point line. He played in 79 games and finished second in the Slam Dunk Contest.
Speculation has surrounded New Orleans and their No. 14 pick in the draft. Reports suggest the Pelicans want to pursue a trade for Scoot Henderson with the No. 2 or 3 pick. New Orleans would likely have to part with Brandon Ingram or Zion Williamson to acquire him.
Pelicans fans will learn soon enough what New Orleans will do on draft night. Trey Murphy III will be front and center, analyzing the Pelicans' moves.
