Odds On Pelicans Winning the Championship

Now that the NBA season is over, oddsmakers have placed bets on the favorites to win the title next year. The New Orleans Pelicans' odds are set at +3000 to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy in 2024. New Orleans remains just one of five teams in the NBA never to reach the NBA Finals.

New Orleans finished an injury-plagued season that saw their three best players, Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Brandon Ingram play just ten games together. The Pelicans could not qualify for the playoffs for a second straight season. The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated New Orleans in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

This offseason has swirled with controversy amid rumors the Pelicans are eyeing a top pick in next week's draft. Reports suggest New Orleans is interested in point guard Scoot Henderson from NBA G-League Ignite. To broker a deal with the Charlotte Hornets or Portland Trail Blazers, the Pelicans may have to part ways with either Brandon Ingram or Zion Williamson.

The All-Star tandem has played four years together but only has one playoff appearance under their belt. While it may be early to give up on the duo, this upcoming season will be important in determining the future of the franchise. After this season, Ingram only has one year remaining on his contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2025.

The team will have a decision on whether to extend Ingram or look for possible suitors in a trade scenario. None of that is likely to happen until after this upcoming season. New Orleans has the talent to compete but must remain healthy.
