Trae Young’s Injury Status for Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks

In this story:
Heading into their Wednesday night matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, the Detroit Pistons are set to take on their Eastern Conference enemy without one of its key players.
Once again, the Hawks have their star guard Trae Young listed as out on the injury report. Lately, Young has been dealing with a torn ligament in his finger.
The last time Young played for the Hawks was back on February 23. At the time, the Hawks fell short to the Toronto Raptors with a two-point loss. Young checked into the game for 35 minutes. He shot just 31 percent from the field to score 11 points.
After the matchup, Young was ruled out for the first time in a month. Since then, he’s been absent for 19 games in a row for the Hawks. Wednesday’s outing against the Pistons will officially serve as the 20th.
Last week, the Hawks offered an update on Young’s setback. As he received his one-month evaluation following his surgery, which occurred in late February, the Hawks noted he is “making progress.”
At this point, Young should be going through “finger motion exercises” as he works on improving in his recovery. For the time being, the Hawks have not cleared Young to return to action just yet.
This season, Young appeared in 51 games before he went down with his recent injury. Spending 37 minutes of action on the court per game, Young averaged 26 points, and 11 assists while shooting 42 percent from the field and 37 percent from three.
He put together an All-Star campaign once again. Unfortunately, Young’s season was derailed. With Atlanta fighting for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, the hope for Atlanta is that their star guard returns to action soon. He won’t be back out as early as Wednesday’s outing against Detroit, though.
