Raptors Face G-League Heavy Grizzlies as Playoff Seeding Race Hits Critical Stretch

With seven rookies potentially taking the floor for the Memphis Grizzlies, the Toronto Raptors must capitalize to move closer to securing a top-six spot in the East.

The Toronto Raptors are hoping to end their losing streak as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies inside the FedEx Forum.

The Raptors' urgency needs to be at an all-time high with only six games left to go in the season and spots in the top six of the Eastern Conference still up for grabs.

If the Raptors play like they did against the Sacramento Kings, a win will certainly not be in their favor. The team struggled out of the gate early and never was able to truly get in control of the game.

The Raptors have to take care of these games against low-level teams, and Brandon Ingram has missed two games recently due to a heel injury. Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett also have small nicks, but they are hoping to roll with the punches.

This is the first time the Raptors and Grizzlies are meeting since early November, when the Raptors pulled out a 117-104 victory in Memphis. The Grizzlies looked a lot different in their early-season matchup.

The starting five from the last game will only have one player available for this game in Cam Spencer, a shooting guard averaging 11.1 points per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jock Landale were traded ahead of the deadline, while Jaylen Wells and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are part of the team's extremely lengthy injury report.

The Grizzlies are just 5-18 since the All-Star break and are playing with a bunch of G League players to help fill out their roster. The team played seven rookies in their last game against the New York Knicks, including Cedric Coward, Javon Small, Tyler Burton, Lucas Williamson, Jahmai Mashack, Adama Bal and Walter Clayton Jr.

Meanwhile, the Raptors should have relatively the same lineup. They hope Ingram can return to the lineup after missing the team's previous game against the Kings. Taking advantage of an inexperienced Grizzlies roster will be crucial for the path to victory.
