Suns Fumble Late Lead, Lose to Wizards

The Phoenix Suns were down by 16 points and mounted a double-digit lead with six minutes left to play in their loss against the Washington Wizards.

PHOENIX -- In the second night of a back-to-back, the Phoenix Suns were unable to emerge victorious despite numerous lead changes in their 113-110 loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for Phoenix. The Suns were without the likes of Devin Booker, Cam Payne due to injury.

Deandre Ayton notched his fourth double-double in the last five games with 30 points and 13 rebounds. This was his second 30-point game this season.

The Suns trailed at halftime and also at end of third quarter. Phoenix re-gained the lead at 83-80 in early minutes of fourth quarter, the first time they held the advantage on the scoreboard since the middle of the second quarter.

Landry Shamet eclipsed his previous season-high of 16 with 31 points. He's now registered 10 or more points in two consecutive games for the second time all year. He sank 9-of-16 three-point attempts on the night.

Phoenix eventually took a ten-point lead with six minutes left but fell victim to poor defense down the stretch. Washington's Kyle Kuzma, a rumored trade target for the Suns, dropped a cool 29-6-6 stat line to stop a ten-game losing streak from Washington.

The Suns return home on Friday for a big home date with the Memphis Grizzlies.
