Suns Forward Kevin Durant Makes History vs Nuggets

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant passes Karl Malone in postseason scoring.

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns are currently battling the Denver Nuggets down 2-0 in their series - but we can at least pause for a second while forward Kevin Duran has reached another historic milestone.

With a pair of free throws in the second quarter, Durant has passed former Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone to climb into seventh place for NBA postseason scoring. Durant - at 4,754 points heading into today - needed just eight points to pass Malone.

Durant now sits under the following list of players:

LeBron James (7,809 PTS)

Michael Jordan (5,987 PTS)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,762 PTS)

Kobe Bryant (5,640 PTS)

Shaquille O'Neal (5,250 PTS)

Tim Duncan (5,172 PTS)

Now under Durant are names such as Malone, Jerry West and Tony Parker to round out the top ten.

Durant is a two-time NBA Finals champion (winning the Finals MVP award both times with Golden State) and was voted the league's MVP back in 2014. He also has collected 13 NBA All-Star nods with 10 All-NBA nominations - he's also led the league in scoring four different seasons.

Off the court, Durant has accomplished plenty, too. He recently just inked a lifetime deal with shoe brand Nike and even is getting his own playable character in Call of Duty when the next update comes for the popular video game series.

However, Durant is likely more focused with things happening on the court. The Suns are down 2-0 in their series and hope to avoid another loss. No team in NBA playoff history has overcame a 3-0 series deficit.
