Kyrie Irving's Updated Injury Status vs. Warriors Revealed

The Dallas Mavericks have Kyrie Irving on the injury report vs. Golden State

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has missed the last 11 games with a right heel contusion, and was initially listed as doubtful for Saturday night's game vs. the Golden State Warriors, but has since been ruled out. While the doubtful status meant Irving was unlikely to play, the status upgrade from out to doubtful does mean he should be nearing his return.

The Mavericks also may be without Luka Doncic in this game, as Irving's backcourt partner is being listed as questionable with left quad soreness. Doncic also missed Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, so the Mavericks have been a bit banged up for a couple games now.

Having dropped their last two games, Dallas has fallen to 18-14, which has them tied for 6th in the Western Conference standings. While it is of course too early to watch the standings on a daily basis, it is around the time of year where certain teams begin establishing themselves as serious playoff teams. This is of course what Dallas expects to be, but in a loaded Western Conference, there is only room for so many teams in that top-6.

Of course with the play-in tournament, seeds 7-10 are forced to play their way into the postseason, while the top-6 have their spots guaranteed. This is why Dallas wants to stay above that 7th seed, where they are right on the border of entering this game.
