Steve Kerr Announces Jimmy Butler Injury Update After Warriors-Rockets

After taking down the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of their highly anticipated first-round playoff series, the Golden State Warriors fell flat in Game 2.

The Warriors could not jump out to a 2-0 series lead, as the Rockets picked up a 109-94 win in Houston on Wednesday night. The Rockets were led by star guard Jalen Green with 38 points and 6 assists on 13-25 shooting from the field and 8-18 from beyond the arc, while the Warriors had to play most of the game shorthanded.

Just eight minutes into Wednesday's contest, Warriors star forward Jimmy Butler took a nasty fall and was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a pelvic contusion.

After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced an injury update for Butler.

"Jimmy always says he's going to be fine," Kerr said. "We have to wait to see about the MRI."

Many Warriors fans have jumped to blame Rockets rookie Amen Thompson for undercutting Butler on his rebound attempt, leading to the hard fall. However, Kerr does not think the foul was intentional.

"I haven't seen the replay. I asked our guys behind the bench, and they just said it looked like there was some physicality on the rebound, and I think Thompson just inadvertently found himself underneath Jimmy... We didn't think there was anything wrong with the play, it was just one of those things."

Butler's status for the remainder of this series could certainly be a deciding factor, especially if the six-time All-Star has to miss any extra time.

The Warriors and Rockets will face off for Game 3 in Golden State on Saturday.
