Wizards Stay Alive in the Playoff Hunt

WASHINGTON-The Washington Wizards (33-42) faced the Boston Celtics (52-33) Tuesday night in game one of a two-game home stint before heading back on the road Sunday to take on the Knicks. This game was the third & final game of the season series between Boston & Washington.

Boston won the first matchup 112-94. Boston held a 25-point lead. Boston shot 44.7% (21/47) from 3-point land and 95% (19/20) from the free-throw line. Jaylen Brown (24 points,10 rebounds) and Jayson Tatum (23 points, 4 rebounds) led the way for the Celtics. Kristaps Porziņģis leads Washington with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rui Hachimura chipped in with 13 points coming off the bench for the Wizards.

In game two, the Celtics won 130-121. The Celtics had 6 players score double-digits… Malcolm Brogdon (17 points), Devin White (15 points), Marcus Smart (14 points), Al Horford (14 points), Sam Hauser (14 points) & Luke Kornet (12 points). The Celtics once again prove why they have the best record so far this season.

The Wizards were led by Bradley Beal, who had a team-high 30 points with five rebounds and four assists. Kristaps Porzingis scored 21 points and 4 rebounds. Monte Morris who was questionable before the game, scored 16 points while dishing out eight assists. Taj Gibson (12 points) & Deni Avdija (10 points) chipped in for the Wizards. Boston leads the season series and is tied 2-0.

The Wizards came into the game on a one-game losing streak and that streak wouldn’t last long. The Wizards took control early in the first quarter and never let go of the lead. The Wizards would win 130-111 to keep their play-in tournament hopes alive. Wizards’ big man Kristaps Porzingis scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Deni Avdija dropped 25 points and collected 10 rebounds in the win. For Boston, Jayson Tatum leads the way with 28 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
