What Is The Most Alarming Stat For The Wizards?

It is now the first friday of the NBA Opening Week. Everyone has started their season at this point. Some teams have already notched two games for the season already in the LA Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. Tonight, we have a busy night of hoops and the Washington Wizards have the night off. They will have the opportunity to watch their opponent for their next game and get a really good scouting report in the Memphis Grizzlies

Although it is just one game the Wizards have played, there is cause for concern already. The loss to Indiana against the Pacers the other night was rough. It was a game of two halfs. The Wizards felt like the team in control in the first half. Ultimately, the game resulted in a loss. Losing happens in the NBA. It’s a very long season so it’s to be expected at some point. However, the Wizards gave up the most points out of everyone’s season openers in 143.

To make matters worse, the Washington Wizards gave up a ton of three pointers too. The Pacers were making it look easy from beyond the ark as they made 20 money balls versus the Wizards who only made nine. Newly acquired guard Bruce Brown of the Pacers made a career high six three pointers in this game! What’s interesting is the Pacers attempted 43 three pointers while the Wizards only attempted 24. It appears the Wizards drafted rookie Bilal Coulibaly for a reason. His defensive tenacity will be very important for the Wizards this season moving forward. He is only one man so the Wizards will definitely have to improve as a team defensively as they struggled defending the three ball last season as well.
