CB D'Shawn Jamison is an Ascending Player to Keep an Eye on

In this story:
One player on the 49ers who is impressing throughout training camp is cornerback D'Shawn Jamison.
An undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas, Jamison steps into a 49ers team that is lacking in cornerback depth. Of course, you can say that about plenty of teams in the NFL, but with the 49ers they pride themselves with their depth .
Behind Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir are players who will get cooked by wide receivers all game long. Jamison on the other hand is playing so well in training camp that he has become a player to keep an eye on as the season progresses. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks could not say enough positive things about what he is seeing out of Jamison.
“Very impressed, very impressed. And I think some of the receivers were talking about him the other day. He has definitely made strides from the spring and just came back and built on his repertoire and just his toolbox," said Wilks.
"I think the one thing that he's doing with his technique, he's staying more square in his backpedal, which is allowing him to be able to see and visualize more of the field-route concept, see the quarterback, and he's doing a great job of breaking on the ball, his man-to-man technique, he's great at the line of scrimmage and he's doing a good job at the top end of the route, the point of emphasis that I talk about all the time, that's where we’ve got to win. So, you see him doing a lot of good things.”
To call this a rave review feels like an understatement. Jamison has been turning heads since the 49ers kicked off training camp. That is fantastic to hear given the lack of reports of any other cornerbacks like Ambry Thomas or Tariq Castro-Fields looking solid. Even Kyle Shanahan has taken notice of how well Jamison is looking on the field.
"He's made some plays out there and I think he keeps getting better," said Shanahan. "He takes coaching very well. He's been mixing up his techniques and really doing what [defensive coordinator] Steve [Wilks] and [defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks] DB ask of him. And the receivers are noticing him, the offense is noticing him, so I’ve been really encouraged with him.”
When the first preseason game comes along, Jamison is one of the top players I will have my eye on, and so should you.
