Was Brock Purdy Snubbed as an All-Pro?

Brock Purdy fell short of some votes behind Dak Prescott, which is why he didn't make the All-Pro team. Was he snubbed?

Seven 49ers made The Associated Press' All-Pro team.

Having that many players from one team make it is astonishing. However, there is one player on the 49ers that can be viewed as a surprise that didn't make it. Quarterback Brock Purdy missed the cut to be an All-Pro.

Purdy received 22 second-team votes and two first-team votes, but it wasn't enough as Dak Prescott received 32 second-team votes and two first-team votes. Prescott would be named a second-team All-Pro with Lamar Jackson being on the first-team. From being an MVP candidate, to not making any of the All-Pro teams. Was Purdy snubbed as an All-Pro?

There's definitely a case to make that he was since Purdy leads the league in practically every statistical category for a quarterback. But I don't think he was a snub. The votes for him were real close, so he clearly gets the acknowledgement of being a legitimate quarterback this season. In fact, he received the third-most votes of all quarterbacks in All-Pro voting. Purdy can be viewed as a fringe All-Pro player this season from that standpoint.

What I believe did Purdy in to give the nod to Prescott is who he plays with. Prescott had four All-Pro's on offense, while Purdy had five. Four of the five are skill players with one of them being a unanimous vote in Christian McCaffrey. This isn't to say Purdy got carried. Of course he didn't. Anyone who actually watches him should know that, but his job is certainly easier when he has literally an All-Pro arsenal to throw to. All Prescott has is CeeDee Lamb to throw to with three All-Pro offensive lineman.

Ultimately, the second-team quarterback could've gone either way, so I don't see any issues with it. What would've been more concerning is if the votes were low for Purdy. It was a tough decision to make. I just think that who he plays with and possibly not meaning as much to the 49ers as Prescott does to the Cowboys are significant contributing factors. Either way, a player who was "Mr. Irrelevant" isn't supposed to be here, so the fact that Purdy was close to it in his first full season as a starter is phenomenal.

At least that is something he can hang his hat on.
