Christian McCaffrey is Named 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year

In this story:
LAS VEGAS -- Was there ever a doubt? 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey has officially been named the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
McCaffrey beats out Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. He tallied 39 first-place votes and was named on all 50 ballots, which shows he was never going to lose. This award was always going to go to McCaffrey.
What he has done this season has been nothing short of spectacular. He finished as the rushing leader with 1,459 yards for 14 touchdowns along with 67 catches for 567 yards and seven touchdowns. McCaffrey eclipsed 2,000 all-purpose yards and totaled 21 touchdowns. That is absolutely absurd for a running back. It shows that McCaffrey is way more than a running back.
The numbers he put up this year are ridiculous, but it goes beyond the stats. What he does off the ball is just as impactful. Defenses have to stress so much on slowing McCaffrey down and have to account for him in every way possible. If he motions, defenses have to adjust. If he's lined up as a receiver, defenses have to swing coverage. McCaffrey does so much to positively influence the 49ers' offense before the snap. It's no wonder why he is also in consideration for the MVP award.
Brock Purdy is also up for that award as well, but it is unlikely that McCaffrey or Purdy will win it. All signs point to Lamar Jackson winning it, which will be revealed soon. For now, the 49ers will carry on in preparation for the Super Bowl as this accomplishment for McCaffrey is sure to be short lived right now.
