DE Randy Gregory Will Prove to be a Key Player on the 49ers

In this story:
No more wallowing in negativity the 49ers' Week 6 loss to the Browns.
Let's get some positives going, because there were some in that game for the 49ers despite the loss. One positive was newly acquired pass rusher Randy Gregory. In his 26 snaps played, Gregory registered a sack, two tackles for a loss, and three quarterback hits. Those numbers practically matched what he did with the Broncos in four games.
Gregory is already making an impact and he's barely been with the 49ers. This is what the 49ers were hoping they were getting when they basically traded peanuts for him. Just imagine how he will look once he's tallied more games under his belt. Offenses are too busy worrying about Bosa that Gregory is reaping the rewards of it. His performance against the Browns was a little teaser of what is to come. That game was enough for me to tell that Gregory will prove to be a key player on the 49ers this year.
“I thought it was a positive one just getting out there," said head coach Kyle Shanahan on Gregory's debut. "He has been in our scheme for two and a half practices up to that moment. To be able to get in there and make some plays, get in the sack and the TFL. I loved his length out there. I love what we saw. I think the more he gets with us, the more he practices, the more he understands our scheme, the better he'll get.”
Every year since 2017, the 49ers have made a trade that has positively impacted their season. Gregory is sure to continue that trend the rest of the way. Despite his impressive performance against the Browns, Gregory still felt like he could've performed better. Given that he's only been with the 49ers for a week, I'd say he did more than enough. But the fact that he has that mindset is exactly what also makes him a great fit in the 49ers' locker room.
It would not shock me to see Gregory finish the year with eight sacks and a plethora of pressures.
