Report: Nick Bosa and the 49ers Will Soon Finalize a Deal

In this story:
A beam of light may finally be appearing at the end of the tunnel with Nick Bosa's holdout.
The 49ers and Bosa are reportedly close to getting a deal done this week, per Jason Dumas of KRON4 News. Bosa has been holding out through the preseason and training camp as he searches for a lucrative contract extension from the 49ers.

"I'm expecting that they're gonna get a deal done in the next couple of days," Dumas said on bay area radio station 957 The Game. "That's what I was told... I was told he can't be had [in a trade] and he will be there Week 1, they're just ironing out details"
This is the first time that the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have experienced a holdout of this magnitude. Contract extensions with their core players do tend to take a while and are done around training camp, but this has reached new milestones with Bosa. You have to wonder why the 49ers are taking so long and that perhaps they are lowballing him.
However, multiple elite defensive linemen are due for an extension like Bosa. Players like Chris Jones of the Chiefs is yet to have a deal and has been holding out as well. Jones is just one of several players awaiting an extension. The market has been stagnant with these deals. Because of that, Bosa is likely waiting to be the last domino to fall so that he can maximize his value. If he becomes the first, then he runs the risk of Jones and other defensive linemen getting more than him,
For the 49ers' sake, they better hope a deal comes together this week. Week 1 of the regular season is fewer than two weeks away. Going into Pittsburgh is already difficult as it is, and will only increase if Bosa is not there with the 49ers. Time is of the essence before panic really ensues.
