Why the Rematch Against the Seahawks Will be Tougher for the 49ers

In this story:
It's Seahawks week again for the 49ers.
Two weeks ago the 49ers spoiled Thanksgiving night for Seattle in a mostly easy win on the road. Now, the 49ers are coming off another easy win, more of a beatdown actually, over the Eagles. San Francisco is on a roll right now. There is nothing that can stand in their way or derail them. Defeating the Seahawks should be another easing outing for them.
Or will it? The 49ers may have a ton of momentum on their side, but it can easily taper off. Coming off such an emotional high in a beatdown win against the Eagles can have the 49ers crashing down to earth. Getting locked in and hyped for the Eagles is nowhere near the same as for the Seahawks, especially since the 49ers won with ease a couple weeks ago.
This is why the rematch against the Seahawks will be tougher for the 49ers.
It has more to do with themselves than the Seahawks. Although, the Seahawks do have an extra three days of rest over the 49ers and are in desperation mode to keep their playoff hopes alive. Ultimately, it is all about the 49ers being able to put the Eagles behind them.
They failed to do that last time they came off an emotional win, which was when they embarrassed the Cowboys in Week 5, then lost the following week to the Browns. Locking in and not overlooking the Seahawks is crucial for the 49ers, and that seems to be an echoing message throughout the team.
"It's always a challenge when we play them every single time," said Brock Purdy." It's not like, ‘oh, we've beaten them, so we're just going to walk in this game.’ It's not like that. It's the NFL. They're a team right now who needs to win and so do we. It's going to be a dog fight like it always is. We respect the heck out of Seattle and anytime we play them we know it's always going to be a dog fight. That's how we look at it.”
It can't all be words for the 49ers. They can't just say it and hope to believe it. They have to truly be bought in or they can suffer a loss to the Seahawks. Now, I don't think that is going to happen. The 49ers are carrying way too much momentum. But this game likely doesn't end up being a walk in the park for the 49ers. I expect them to struggle for a good portion of the game. If they do end up taking Seattle to the woodshed, then it just goes to show how the messaging across the team worked.
"A lot of respect for Pete Carroll and that coaching staff," defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said. "Thanksgiving Day game has nothing to do with our performance and how we're going to play on Sunday, nor does last week. We’ve got to go earn this one."
