Duke Tobin On Bengals 2023 Financial Strategy: 'We're Going To Spend To The Cap'
CINCINNATI — The Bengals are going to exhaust every salary cap option they have to build a Super Bowl-winning team around Joe Burrow.
Director of player personnel Duke Tobin confirmed the team will spend to the cap this season.
"Our quarterback is the key," Tobin said to SiriusXM NFL Radio. "Our job is to facilitate his success in every way that we can and put the pieces around him. We're gonna spend to the cap."
Cincinnati has famously reserved some money each offseason to maintain flexibility and make sure they have healthy financials for an extended time.
It sounds like they are willing to take more risks to bolster the greatest collection of talent this franchise has ever had.
Cincinnati finished last season with a hair under $2 million in cap space while fielding the third-youngest roster in the NFL.
