NFL Network's Peter Schrager Ranks Joe Burrow No. 3 Among Clutch Quarterbacks

The Bengals passer has performed well in the biggest moments.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals have gotten plenty of clutch moments from quarterback Joe Burrow this decade, prompting NFL Network's Peter Schrager to put the 2022 MVP finalist third on his most clutch QBs list.

"This guy goes on the road and wins and then takes care of business when he needs to in his building," Schrager said. "Joe Burrow is just one of these guys that has that laser focus, has that robot vision, and says give me the rock. I'll get it done. They go on the road and beat Buffalo in that playoff game we alluded to earlier today.

"I think a lot of people thought that hey, yes that the Bengals are playing good football, but for Joe Burrow to go into Buffalo in the snow is going to be too much. It wasn't, went into Arrowhead and won an AFC Championship Game. Beat the Chiefs there. I want the ball in Burrow's hands. It goes back to his college days at LSU, of course. But in the pros, this guy has won huge road games and has always performed well. He has not laid the proverbial egg."

It makes historical sense to place Burrow behind Mahomes and Stafford.

Mahomes (t-13th, 14 game-winning drives) and Stafford have more clutch moments than the Bengals passer, albeit with more time to play out those scenarios. With Matt Ryan entering a broadcast booth this coming season and Tom Brady retiring, Stafford is now the NFL's active leader in game-winning drives (42).

Burrow is tied for 29th with seven game-winning drives in his career.
