Bengals Select Edge Rusher Over Other Popular Names in Latest Major Mock Draft

Cincinnati could fill a major positional need at Pick 18.

CINCINNATI — The Ringer's Danny Kelly released his latest NFL mock draft and he has the Bengals making a surprise pick in the edge rushing department.

He has Cincinnati selecting UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu at Pick 18.

"The Bengals go with the Best Player Available strategy here, grabbing a pass-rushing technician in Latu," Kelly wrote. "The former UCLA star is incredible with his hands, constantly swiping, chopping, and clubbing his way past offensive linemen and into the pocket. He’ll give a boost to the Cincy pass-rush rotation, and should look great out there alongside Trey Hendrickson, Sam Hubbard, and last year’s first-rounder, Myles Murphy."

The consensus big board has Latu ranked 18th overall and third among edge rushers behind Alabama's Dallas Turner and Florida State's Jared Verse. Verse was available at this pick, as was Brock Bowers, Amarius Mims and Johnny Newton.
