Report: Browns Nearing Deal With Kareem Hunt Following Nick Chubb Injury

The veteran has spent four years in the division.

CINCINNATI — Kareem Hunt is returning to the AFC North.

The veteran is close to agreeing to a deal with the Browns according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury in Monday's loss to the Steelers and will miss the rest of the season.

Hunt has spent the past four seasons in Cleveland, racking up 1,874 rushing yards and 973 receiving yards. Now he's returning to the Browns to help replace one of the premiere running backs in the NFL.

What does this mean for the Bengals? Well, they don't play the Browns again until Week 18. Both teams are hoping to make the playoffs this season. Not having Chubb certainly hurts a Cleveland offense that struggled against the Steelers.

Hunt is a proven back and he knows their offensive system. This signing makes a lot of sense for Cleveland. Former Cincinnati Bearcats running back Jerome Ford is expected to be the No. 1 option in their backfield moving forward.
