Report: Former Bengals QB Brandon Allen is Signing With San Francisco 49ers

The veteran spent the past three seasons in Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI — Former Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen is headed to the San Francisco 49ers according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Allen completed 61.5% of his passes in 12 career games for Cincinnati over the past three seasons, throwing for 1,096 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

He joins a quarterback room that has Brock Purdy, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold already on the roster. This could give San Francisco the depth they want before trading Lance.

That means Joe Burrow will have a new backup quarterback behind him for the first time since his rookie season. Jake Browning is on the roster.

Cincinnati has also expressed interest in free agent Trevor Siemian. It'll be interesting to see if they sign a veteran quarterback before the start of training camp.

UPDATE: The Bengals are signing Siemian to a one-year deal. For more details, go here.
