Rob Gronkowski on Joe Burrow's Contract Extension: 'I'm Waiting For a Quarterback' That Takes Tom Brady Route

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Future Pro Football Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski appeared on Up & Adams this week and told Kay Adams his advice for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in his contract negotiations: Take a team-friendly deal to build the roster.
"You take a quarterback-friendly deal," Gronkowski said misspeaking and meaning to say "team" friendly. "What's the difference between $40-47, 48 million or $53-54 million when the next highest guy on your team's only getting paid in the 20s? There's already that big of a difference between your pay and the next highest-paid guy on your team. So who cares?"
Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts have reset the quarterback market above $50 million per year incrementally over the past two months.
Burrow may end up jumping them or he could take a discount. No one knows for sure what will happen except that he's involved in the talks, which Burrow confirmed on Tuesday.
"I'm waiting for a quarterback to do that, like kind of go down the Brady route," Gronkowski said. "Not as much as the Brady route. I mean, he was taking 50% discounts, which we don't even get at the pro shop in New England."

Take a team-friendly deal like Tom Brady and go contend every year.
