LOOK: Bills Honor Damar Hamlin, Hold Up '3s' at Practice

The Buffalo Bills displayed joy at Thursday's practice after news surfaced of Damar Hamlin's positive recovery.

There hasn't been much to smile about for the Buffalo Bills this week as the team continues to recover emotionally after safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during Monday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. 

But after incredible news surfaced Thursday of Hamlin's recovery and responsiveness, Bills players could be seen smiling, throwing their thumbs up and honoring Hamlin by holding up three fingers to represent his No. 3 jersey during Thursday's practice as they prepare to host the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Quarterback Josh Allen and cornerback Tre'Davious White both held their thumbs up while displaying huge smiles at practice as well.

Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center said Thursday that Hamlin woke Wednesday night and was responsive while communicating through writing, as a breathing tube has him currently unable to talk.

Unfortunately, Hamlin wasn't able to awaken to good news of a Bills win, as his health took precedent over a football game that quickly took a backseat before being postponed. The game is now reportedly set to be cancelled altogether, per the Associated Press.

Instead, his incredible fortune was through hearing the life-changing news that he was alive despite being without a pulse at one point when being surrounded by medical personnel on the field Monday.

"Did we win?" Hamlin wrote, per Dr. William Knight and Dr. Timothy Pritts.

"Yes Damar, you won," Pritts said. "You won the game of life."

The Bills (12-3) and Patriots (8-8) are set to kickoff from Highmark Stadium at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
