Source Reveals Truth: New York Jets Coach Robert Salah vs. Owner Woody Johnson in 'Heated' Conflict?

In an offseason full of anonymous reports, big free agent spending, and shifting expectations, even the "quietness" the New York Jets were looking for this offseason continues to elude them - allegedly, anyway.

In an episode of "Around the NFL" league reporter Colleen Wolfe spoke about a "heated discussion that took place between Jets head coach Robert Saleh and owner Woody Johnson.

"From a very reliable source at the owners meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody and Robert to the point it was very awkward," Wolfe detailed. "It could have been about anything ... it was a little awkward."

Wolfe detailed that the discussion was not an argument per se, but the reporter's source said that it left an awkward vibe shortly after. But ... we'd add a "but.''

As much as Buffalo Bills fans and the rest of the AFC East would enjoy some Big Apple dissention, a source who was in Orlando tells us the report is very much overblown, and that the "conflict'' was nothing of any particular note.

It is worth noting, respectfully, in previous reports from the Athletic, New York's eccentric owner would sometimes take fan's views into account as he reviewed his employees and was seemingly furious over the team's lack of success under Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas.

But the Jets are also downplaying that, as Johnson would later quell expectations when he spoke to reporters Monday by saying the success of the team in 2024 would be "in the eye of the beholder."

All of this also comes after Johnson vehemently defended his head coach despite his 18-33 record.

"He's going to be a lot better head coach," Johnson said. "One thing about head coaches is you get better as you get more experience. And he's going to concentrate on offense. He's got Jeff [Ulbrich] to do the defense. And we've got good special teams. It's offense, offense, offense."

While we cannot confirm what exactly the Jets owner and the head coach were "discussing," the latest report doesn't come at the best of times as New York tries to turn away from its "dysfunctional" reputation ... as if our source is correct, there is nothing substantial enough happening here to add to any alleged issues.
