Watch: Kareem Hunt Scores His First Touchdown Since Rejoining Browns

In this story:
When Nick Chubb went down with a season-ending injury in Week Two, Cleveland Browns fans collectively had one replacement in mind: Kareem Hunt.
The Browns delivered and the Cleveland native – hailing from Willoughby South High School – has gone through a bit of a re-acclimation process over the last few weeks to get back in football shape. It finally paid off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, as Hunt scored his first touchdown of the season in the second quarter.

The play itself was a nifty one as backup quarterback PJ Walker actually left the field momentarily and tight end Harrison Bryant lined up under center. Bryant took the snap and quickly pitched it to Hunt who went untouched to the endzone.
The 28-year-old is certainly no stranger to finding paydirt here in Cleveland. During his previous three seasons in Cleveland from 2019-2022, Hunt accounted for 23 Browns touchdowns. 16 of those came on the ground, while the other seven featured Hunt as a pass catcher.
Against the 49ers today, Hunt has been a major spark for an offense that is missing starting quarterback Deshaun Watson and veteran guard Joel Bitonio. So far today, Hunt has four rushes for 29 yards and the score. He also caught one pass for 11 yards in the first half.
The touchdown also came a key time for Cleveland, with the Browns trailing the 49ers 10-0, but hanging tough the score cut the deficit to three. So far, the game has been a bit ugly, which may be the perfect formula for the Browns to upset San Francisco.
