It was clear after the season was over that fans were not happy at all with how the team finished the season.

In this story:

It's no secret that Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are upset with head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles, who took over as head coach of the Bucs in 2022, has faced lots of criticism for the end of the 2025 season, where the Buccaneers lost seven of their last nine games and missed the playoffs.

That being said, Bowles has done some good work in Tampa Bay. He's won the NFC South three times, and he also has a playoff win under his belt in 2023. Those are good things on his resume, and Tampa Bay's owners, the Glazer Family, are focusing on those heading into 2026.

Buccaneers co-owner Joel Glazer gave his thoughts on the ownership's decision to keep Bowles for the 2026 season.

Joel Glazer has faith in Todd Bowles

"I’d say, you know, as a franchise, everybody’s goal is to win the Super Bowl every year. That’s your hope, but only one team does win the Super Bowl every year, and in any given season, you gotta look at the season, look at how things went, look at where the franchise is at, look at the totality of the situation year-in and year-out," Glazer said, per JoeBucsFan. "Obviously, we were disappointed. Obviously, our fans are disappointed. But there’s always a little more to it, you know... Obviously, ultimately the head coach is the one who has [the won-loss record] fall at his feet, but I know Todd is very respected in the locker room and nobody wants to win more than Todd."

There are some aspects that fans will likely agree with, like the significance of injuries to players like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Bucky Irving, Luke Goedeke, Tristian Wirfs and more. Many will also agree that yes, there is only one Super Bowl winner each season, and it is important to remember that when setting expectations for how a team can do.

However, what these quotes miss out on is that the Bucs' collapse from 6-2 to 8-9 goes deeper than simply being bitten by the injury bug. Poor coaching played a strong factor into it as well, which is why the team decided to remove a large portion of their staff after the 2025 season, including both their offensive and special teams coordinators.

Glazer also referenced the team losing close games down the stretch, as the team actually got healthier as the second half of the season progressed. Glazer also referenced how "You can try and throw a dart every year, or you can try to build a Super Bowl-winning team."

Well, Bowles must be throwing a lot of darts, because his staff is currently on its fifth offensive coordinator in five years and third special teams coordinator in five years. I understand Coen and Canales received head coaching jobs, but Bowles also fired Byron Leftwich and Josh Grizzard as well.

Time will tell if the Glazer family made the right decision in keeping Bowles as head coach in 2026. Right now, however, there are many fans who are still skeptical.
