Aaron Rodgers Possibly Heading to NFC West

The Arizona Cardinals wouldn't be too happy about facing Aaron Rodgers twice a season.

The NFC West is changing, and the Arizona Cardinals will likely be bystanders next year as their rebuild looks to get started here in a few weeks at the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals - still without Kyler Murray - have arguably the most talented player at the position when healthy, though that could possibly soon change.

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for just that final piece to their championship puzzle, and that could come in the form of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is looking to move on from the Green Bay Packers this offseason. Rodgers was supposed to be in New York Jets green by now, but talks have apparently stalled.

FS1's Craig Carton says the 49ers are ready to pursue Rodgers if Green Bay's deal with the New York Jets falls through.

"Aaron Rodgers would absolutely want to play for this franchise, and the franchise is the San Francisco 49ers. They have Trey Lance coming off a broken ankle. They've got Brock Purdy, who's not going to be throwing the ball until August or September, and they signed Sam Darnold. They do not have a quarterback right now. Maybe Trey becomes a stud, we don't know," said Carton.

"Aaron Rodgers is from the area and has always said 'I might want to go home one day'. Now, he also famously said 'I want to screw San Francisco for not drafting me', well he's already done that. So here's he reality: San Francisco does not have a first-round draft pick in this draft. They gave them all away to get Trey Lance.

"They do - however- because of compensatory picks, have like five third-round picks. So the conversation has been multiple third-round picks in this draft, and a first-round draft pick in next year's draft. If this happens, the New York Jets no longer exist as a franchise."

This isn't the first time the 49ers have been tied to one of the top quarterbacks available on the market, as San Francisco is reportedly also interested in the dynamic talents of Lamar Jackson.

Rodgers isn't likely to play much longer, so the Cardinals probably wouldn't need to get all hands on deck for Rodgers before their rebuild is (hopefully) done.

However, that's a sight nobody in the division wants to see considering how good the 49ers were last year. Adding Rodgers to that immensely talented offense, orchestrated by one of the top offensive minds in football, would make the 49ers one of the top favorites to win the Super Bowl, if not No. 1.
