Cardinals Projected to Finish Last in NFC West

To nobody's surprise, the Arizona Cardinals were listed by PFF as the No. 4 team in the division as 2024 approaches.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals - unsurprisingly - have been picked to finish last in the NFC West in 2024.

In PFF's preview of current betting odds for each division, Arizona's +1100 (8% chance) odds to win the NFC West ranked fourth behind the San Francisco 49ers -240 (70%), Los Angeles Rams: +450 (18%) and Seattle Seahawks: +900 (10%).

More from Pro Football Focus:

"Like their counterparts in the AFC, the NFC West is shaping up to be an uphill battle for anyone outside of San Francisco. The Niners hold the second-shortest odds to win a division, behind only their Super Bowl 58 opponent, Kansas City. While the Niners weren’t overly active in the opening wave of free agency, they return nearly every key contributor from last season. Emblematic of the 'if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it' methodology," wrote Mason Cameron.

"Elsewhere around the NFC West, teams are struggling to keep pace with San Francisco. The Rams bid farewell to the most dominant defender the modern NFL has ever seen, Aaron Donald, this offseason. While, Seattle did what many thought they would never do, in parting ways with Pete Carroll, in favor of a fresh face in Mike Macdonald. And lastly, the Cardinals, who, while active on the open market, failed to entice many high-end signees, and as a result, failed to move the needle with Oddsmakers."

This comes to no surprise after Arizona's 4-13 season with a considerably weak roster. Though GM Monti Ossenfort has done a strong job of rebuilding to this point, it would be a surprise to many to see the Cardinals compete.

There is some hope that a healthy Kyler Murray can continue moving the needle, though Arizona is still considered to have a mixture of youth and overall lack of talent on the roster to be seen as a postseason threat, at least moving into 2024.

HC Jonathan Gannon is insistent on winning games. and if you believe a sophomore campaign can be more fruitful under his watch, perhaps those division odds may be in your favor.
