Cardinals Trading Third-Round Pick to Eagles as Part of Tampering Settlement

In this story:
TEMPE -- There's been plenty of smoke and trade rumors surrounding the Arizona Cardinals and their No. 3 overall pick, DeAndre Hopkins and even Budda Baker.
The Cardinals have indeed made a trade, but not the one fans were waiting on.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are sending Pick 66 to the Philadelphia Eagles to settle a tampering investigation settlement involving the hiring of now head coach Jonathan Gannon.
In return, the Eagles are sending Pick 94, a fifth-round pick and the rights to Jonathan Gannon.
Update: The #Cardinals are trading the 66th overall pick in the Draft to the #Eagles for the 94th pick and a 5th round pick in 2024 and the rights to coach Jonathan Gannon, per @AdamSchefter

The two teams released the following joint statement:
"The Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on the settlement of an issue concerning an instance of impermissible contact by Arizona during its head coaching search this past January.
"The Cardinals self-reported to the National Football League that General Manager Monti Ossenfort had a phone conversation with then-Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon in the days following the NFC Championship Game, a period during which contact is not permitted under the League’s Anti-Tampering Policy.
"To resolve the matter between the two clubs, the Cardinals and Eagles have agreed to swap third round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft and the Cardinals receive Philadelphia’s fifth-round selection in 2024."
Gannon was ultimately the last person interviewed in Arizona's hiring process, and Ossenfort admitted that the Cardinals would not have completed the cycle without at least talking to Gannon.
