Cardinals Getting Head Start on Regular Season

In this story:
The Arizona Cardinals just wrapped up training camp last week and are back at their facility in Tempe.
They've played just one of three preseason games and will have an extra week between their last preseason matchup and the start of the regular season.
The Cardinals still have plenty on their plate ahead. They'll have to settle on a 53 man roster while also establishing a clear depth chart of starters and backups, all under the direction of brand new coordinators and first-time head coach Jonathan Gannon.
While juggling and prioritizing those preseason duties, Gannon says the team is already preparing for the regular season:
"This whole week was set up with Week 1 moving forward in mind, so we wanted to get them in that cadence and that routine knowing that. When we go to Minnesota, it will be completely different. The week after will be completely different but truthfully we wanted to dry run it for the players a little bit to get in their routines, what they need to do to get ready to play from Monday morning till Sunday kickoff," said Gannon.
"And then for the coaches too. We already changed and tweaked a few things. I was thinking to myself, 'Why did I make that decision in June? That was wrong.'"
Offensive coordinator Drew Petzing said he will try calling plays from the booth this week against the Kansas City Chiefs while he spent last week on the sideline:
"The operation was clean, but I'm going to try going up this week," Petzing said. "I think it's important to try both and make sure that I'm making an educated decision on what's best for a team, and what's best for our offense."
Cardinals QB Colt McCoy touched on the topic, too:
“Get into your routine and what it’s going to be like.”

Though time still exists between now and a few Sundays down the road where the Cardinals will battle the Washington Commanders in Week 1, it's clear Gannon and his staff are wanting to get a jump on their first season at the helm.
