Former Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt is certainly enjoying retired life, though a recent major payday just might have changed his mind on not playing in the 2023 season.

San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa inked a massive five-year, $170 million contract that included $122 million in guarantees. He will make $34 million annually and is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.

It was an impressive (and well deserved) deal for Bosa, who is now locked and loaded for the foreseeable future.

Maybe, just maybe, that sort of money could draw Watt out of retirement.

"Just getting a chance to sit down and look at the breakdown of Bosa’s new (very well-deserved) contract," said Watt on X.

"I have a little more digging to do, but I’m starting to feel comfortable saying that I would consider un-retiring if offered a similar contract. Maybe."

Watt had to clarify afterwards by adding, "not enough people are understanding the joke here and it’s concerning…"

Over 12 seasons, Watt has earned nearly $130 million according to Spotrac - though a smart man is always looking to add extra income.

Watt's had a busy offseason since retiring, which first began with fighting actual rumors that he would come out of retirement to play with brother T.J. Watt in Pittsburgh. Him and his family became minority owners in Premier League soccer club Burnley while Watt signed on with CBS Sports to become a studio analyst for NFL coverage.
