It's no secret that the Chargers have some big stars on the roster, and with the talent at LA's disposal, one side of the ball is running up the checks at Sofi Stadium

In a recent tweet, it was reported that the Bolts carried the most expensive defense in the league by a decent margin.

Signing J.C. Jackson from the Patriots, trading for Khalil Mack, and extending Joey Bosa, LA hasn't shied away from both acquiring talent for their defense and keeping their draft picks that they've hit on.

Despite such an expensive price tag on the unit, the team's defensive effort has been questioned after a pension for allowing opponents back into games when they have leads late in games.

Last year, the team ranked relatively low in many categories when it came to preventing both points and yards from their weekly foes, especially on the ground.

While injuries to both Bosa and J.C. Jackson undoubtedly played a part in the unit's ineffectiveness, the Chargers have made an effort to correct these wrongs.

Eric Kendricks, previously a lifetime Viking, signed with the Chargers in the offseason to shore up the middle of the field with hard-hitting tackles and coverage when needed.

Bosa should be back and healthy for the Bolts' pass rush this year, and paired with top 100 member Khalil Mack, the formidable sack artist duo should have plenty of opportunity to be menacing in opponents' backfields very shortly.

QB Justin Herbert will take care of the offensive side of the ball should the unit falter again this season though he certainly hopes this isn't the case.

Armed with new weapons, fiery competitors, and a solid line, it's the defensive side of the ball that should concern Charger fans.

The loyal blue and gold supporters can only hope for better days ahead with such a hefty price tag dedicated to their roster.
