Chargers Injury News: Austin Ekeler Reveals Ankle Injury Status, Says it's 'Week-to-Week'

It could be worse

Los Angeles Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler was dearly missed in LA's Week 2 loss to the Tennessee Titans. LA struggled to find their ground game, day and night, compared to Week 1, which was a big reason for their loss.

The loss of Ekeler sent shockwaves through the entire offense, and now here they are, in a 0-2 hole, staring down the face of a possible 0-3 start. Unfortunately, it could be worse before it gets better, as Austin Ekeler provided an update on his ankle injury; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Here's Ekeler on "Ekeler's Edge," a Yahoo Fantasy Football show.

“You've just got to get it to a point where you feel good, where it's taped up and you can actually feel like, 'If I get tackled, it's not going to be reaggravated and set me back to where I was before, where I could barely walk on it.' … It's not something that's going to be like, 'Ah, he's out for several months' type of thing. It's a day-to-day, week-to-week situation. I like the progress that I've made so far. Hopefully back sooner than later."

Ekeler changes the entire dynamic of the LA offense, and without him, it isn't the same. It's clear the offense isn't the problem through the first two weeks, but still, Ekeler causes so many matchup problems that he might've made the difference on their final drive against Miami and in Week 2.

The 117 rush yards he earned in Week 1 was the most he's rushed for since Week 5 of last season against the Browns. It was just a taste of what he can be in Kellen Moore's offense, and with him, the offense is a different animal.

Still, LA needs him back at 100 percent or close to it, and if he isn't, then others must step up in his absence. Hopefully, he isn't gone for too long, and we'll provide an update on him when it's released.
