In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers have some high-profile injuries to track as training camp continues.

Granted, the Chargers don’t have many injuries. But when one of the guys dealing with an issue is a top-10 player at his spot after missing all of last season due to injury, it becomes a much bigger deal than most training camps around the NFL.

The other guy battling injury, too, happens to be a player who is likely about to reset the entire NFL market at his position with a contract extension.

Tack on the usual wear and tear of training camp for other guys as things progress, and it can be tough to track all of the updates. Here’s a live-updating list of injury items to know for the Chargers.

This is the big one for the Chargers.

Rashawn Slater inked a big contract extension last year and suffered a torn patellar tendon in early August, ending his season before it started. Since, he’s been described loosely as ahead of schedule for most of the offseason before showing up for training camp work.

Last week when the Chargers put on pads in San Diego, though, his surgically repaired knee went through what he called a "minor flare-up" when asked by reporters. He’s been missing practice since.

Chargers fans, understandably, are worried. But considering the team made Slater available for a media session and he was pretty open about the whole thing, it doesn’t seem like a major concern.

That said, Slater’s practice participation is going to be something to closely watch until Week 1.

When Tuli Tuipulotu worked off to the side, if at all, to start camp, it seemed related to the mentioned contract extension talks.

Turns out it might have been something else.

According to Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, Tuipulotu has been “working through” an issue “ramping up” on his way to a return. The star edge rusher himself has said that he won’t comment on the contract and that working on the side away from teammates has been tough.

Like Slater, it’ll be interesting to see how and when Tuipulotu takes part in full practices before the season, but there’s the contract stuff in the background to watch, too.

Quentin Johnston

A possible No. 1 wideout in Mike McDaniel’s scheme, Quentin Johnston has been held out of practice recently while he deals with some minor undisclosed setback.

Tarheeb Still

The steal of a mid-round find for the Chargers defense a few years ago, Tarheeb Still has also been out with a minor undisclosed setback.
