Fans have huge aspirations for the Los Angeles Chargers this coming season and definitely expect them to make big strides towards being a contender in the near future. With Justin Herbert currently in negations for a huge contract extension and Austin Ekeler trying to get his own as well, the expectations will only grow with more money spent.

However, LA must focus on their own division first and ensuring they take care of business there first. The Kansas City Chiefs are the obvious team they must overthrow at some point to put them in a solid position to make noise but what about the other squads? Both the Broncos and the Raiders have seen big roster changes this offseason and will look to be right there with the Bolts.

The Raiders specifically will have a whole new look as they brought in Jimmy Garappolo and also familiar faces for Chargers fans. They have the number seven pick in the 2023 draft but have recently revealed that they no longer are looking to select one of the best defensive tackles available.

"Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter has started to be taken off draft boards leading up to the 2023 Draft by NFL teams due to his legal troubles. Carter was once considered a lock to be a top 10 or even a top 5 draft pick, but now his future in the NFL is in serious jeopardy. According to a source who spoke to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, the Las Vegas Raiders have crossed Carter off their board and will not take him with the 7th overall pick." (Via BroBible)

Jalen Carter plead no contest to allegations of racing and reckless driving in early March. He did not have to serve any time in jail and instead is currently undergoing 12 months of probation along with 80 hours of community service. Unfortunately, these charges came after a car incident that resulted in a fatality.

This situation is something the Raiders have looked into and determined that they do not want to be a part of. NFL teams will certainly follow and it will be interesting to where his football future lays now.
