Washington Commanders Signing Dallas Cowboys Ex Tyler Biadasz Solves Big Problems

The Washington Commanders had a problem with their offensive line in 2023 and they've taken steps to address it this offseason.

Too many times last season we saw Washington Commanders offensive linemen getting beat right off the snap or not playing to the whistle leading to setbacks that a team can't afford to have when playing with a young quarterback like Sam Howell.

This offseason, the Commanders have all but guaranteed they'll be playing with an even younger quarterback after this year's NFL Draft, and have sought out new linemen to join the existing group that displays consistent effort from the start of a play to the end of it.

In one case, there's a new Washington offensive lineman who even finishes some plays just slightly after the whistle. And while the tape doesn't tell us exactly what the Commanders' frontline will look like this season, it gives us a good glimpse toward the intent of general manager Adam Peters and coach Dan Quinn's vision, especially the signing of Dallas Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz.

When you watch the Cowboys offensive line from 2023, you get a strong sense that while Biadasz may not have been the most talented or well-known member he really had a grip on what the unit did and how well they performed.

His awareness in space and ability to help out a guard in need but also keep himself aware of any twisting or late blitzing defenders shows up regularly and often times gave quarterback Dak Prescott as clean a pocket and as much time as any could really expect.

It's not to say Biadasz and his mates were perfect by any means, but the presence of football IQ in setting the line and then playing after the snap are evident in pass protection.
