The Dallas Cowboys kicked off the early wave of NFL free agency by focusing on the secondary and bringing in reinforcements for the league's worst pass defense. As free agency began to calm down, the team added veteran defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard.

The 32-year-old Bullard has bounced around the league, but he's eager to get rolling in Dallas.

Bullard previously revealed it was a "dream come true" to play for the Cowboys, and that his grandmother is a lifelong fan. Now that Bullard has put pen to paper and officially inked his deal, he is giving Cowboys fans a glimpse of what they should expect from him.

While pitching his talent, Bullard shared his attitude and approach to the game, which is exactly what the Cowboys have been desperately lacking in the trenches. Under former defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, the Cowboys were bullied by opposing teams, but that won't be the case if Bullard has anything to say about it.

"I think the defense they're trying to bring in is what I've done for the last 10 years," Bullard explained. "To come in and be a big end, and be present on run downs, to make it tougher for teams to run the ball — for us to get the run defense going. To have the opportunity to come here, it just fit.

"The smarts of the game, understanding what we're gonna get and being able to communicate down the line with the guys. And the guys that are already here are vets, too, like Kenny Clark and those guys. I think, just us being able to communicate, as we get older and get that experience — the game slows down. " … And I'm bringing the toughness and physicality, for sure."

Dallas' defense ranked No. 30 overall in the league last season, with the No. 23-ranked run defense, allowing 125.5 yards per game and a league-high 24 rushing touchdowns. With Bullard joining All-Pro Quinnen Williams and Pro Bowler Kenny Clark, there should be some massive improvement.

The Cowboys' defense needs to pick up some slack in 2026 if the team wants to end its two-year postseason slump, and Bullard could play a big part in bringing the toughness that Dallas has desperately lacked in recent years.
