8 Biggest Winners, 6 Largest Losers From Eagles Preseason: Willie Lampkin Takes Over

Two weeks into the Philadelphia Eagles preseason. One week of training camp remains.

Then the Eagles will have the initial 53-man roster set before the preparation of the regular season begins. This is going to be a wild week for the franchise as they look to finalize the 53.

Who were the biggest winners and losers of the preseason so far? We're looking at this strictly form a roster perspective. Who played their way onto the 53 and who are playing their way off?

Winners

Willie Lampkin: The uncertainty on the interior of the Eagles offensive line was eased with the development of Lampkin, who shined in the two preseason games. Lampkin has created holes in the run game as a guard, and has gotten the ball off quickly at center. His A-gap blocking shows when rewatching games. Lampkin has earned a roster spot.

Drew Kendall: While Kendall may be undersized as a guard, he moves at the position fluidly. Kendall has seized the No. 3 guard spot. emerging as the top option at left guard and right guard. He's also the backup center to Cam Jurgens as well. Kendall has looked impressive blocking the A-gap and B-gap in both preseason games.

Will Shipley: Benefitting from the Eagles offensive line and injuries to his competition, Shipley took the bull by the horns with the RB3 job. He's ran the ball with authority and has created some big plays after hitting the hole. The RB3 job belongs to Shipley, and he may have an opportunity to help out this offense at some point in a 17-game season.

Ty Robinson: Vic Fangio challenged Robinson and he answered the call, shining with 3.0 sacks in six preseason quarters. The Eagles were hoping Robinson could justify having a roster spot at a loaded position like defensive tackle, and he locked up that opportunity. Perhaps Robinson helps this defense in 2026 if he can get on the field.

Joshua Weru: An afterthought towards making the 53 once training camp started, Weru has played his way into roster consideration. That's a massive win for a player who never put on pads until a month ago. The Eagles seriously have to consider Weru on the 53 instead of exposing him to waivers. Weru may get claimed.

Elijah Moore: Whether Moore makes the 53 or not is up for debate, but he played his way into consideration to make this team. The preseason games haven't shown it, but Moore has outplayed Hollywood Brown in training camp. He outplayed Darius Cooper -- who has been a camp standout -- in recent weeks. The Eagles will find it hard to keep Moore off the roster.

Markel Bell: Bell showcased early in training camp he earned the No. 3 tackle job, but this preseason essentially sealed the deal.The run blocking and play recognization has been noticeable on first and second watch, but also how much Bell has improved as a pass protector. He's the top option should Jordan Mailata or Lane Johnson go down.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr.: He was already on the 53, but Trotter Jr. has been the Eagles best player this preseason. Trotter has been around the football all summer, showing he's a starting linebacker in the league. The Eagles are set at inside linebacker, and Trotter Jr. will earn that opportunity to start in Philadelphia or somewhere else.

Losers

Andy Dalton: The Eagles have basically handed Dalton the QB2 job, and he couldn't seize it. Philadelphia can't even justify Dalton having the job based on how he's performed this preseason. Tanner McKee has been better than Dalton, even if that doesn't show up all the time in practice. The Eagles just can't trust Dalton to play a football game against a first-team defense. They should look to move on.

Eli Stowers: While Stowers is making this team, his performance this preseason has reminisced his play in training camp. Stowers is not ready to play in an NFL game, and he may have to based on the state of the tight end position. Stowers may be a healthy scratch come Week 1 and the Eagles may be in the market to improve at TE2 -- unless Stowers drastically improves over the next three weeks.

Rocco Underwood: The Eagles didn't sign a veteran long snapper this offseason to compete with Underwood, allowing him to win the roster spot that's currently his. Underwood has been inconsistent -- and the Eagles don't have to keep him on the initial 53. They can look for one of the available long snappers next week, and then make the call on Underwood, which may be what they do.

Micah Morris: Tough to make a declaration Morris is in jeopardy to make the 53, but this is the result when Willie Lampkin and Jake Majors are ahead on the depth chart. If John Ojekwu gets healthy, he may be ahead of Morris too. Morris hasn't been terrible and injuries held him back -- yet has been outplayed. He still needs more development.

Fred Johnson: Another player who has been okay this summer, but Johnson appears to be ceding the No. 3 tackle job to Markel Bell. Johnson should still have a spot on this roster, since the Eagles need veteran depth at tackle. Have to wonder if Johnson could be a trade candidate.

Andre Sam: Hard to tell who is going to make the final roster spot at safety (should the Eagles keep four), but Sam appeared to blow his opportunity. The Eagles want to give a longer look at Cole Wisniewski and Maximus Pulley, while Kapena Gushiken has come on strong. This is the biggest wild card on the 53, and Sam is still in the race.
