What We Learned On Day 10 of Eagles Training Camp: Elijah Moore Pushing For Roster Spot

In this story:
PHILADELPHIA — Day 10 of Eagles camp is in the books, an hour-and- 45-minute run-heavy “green” practice, featuring everything from a live field-goal period to the always-fun 1-on-1s where the running backs try to hold off the linebackers in pass protection.
The team periods are always the highlight, and that was no exception today, with the highlight coming on a long developing route that got Elijah Moore matched up with Andre’ Sam in single coverage. Jalen Hurts took advantage with a strike for a 47-yard touchdown.
Overall, though, it was a run-heavy session with plenty of pistol mixed in with under-center reps. By and large, the top three backs: Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley looked effective, but it’s tough to gauge when there is no tackling to the ground.
Hurts also had an impressive connection on a fastball to Dontayvion Wicks on the sideline.
The offense one-upped the defense in a penalty-plagued four-minute period, while the first-team rushing attack came through to convert with just two Barkley runs.
Defensively, Jalyx Hunt added to his impressive summer by harassing Hurts throughout the session, Cooper DeJean flashed on an inside blitz that got home, and Quinyon Mitchell had another interception in 7-on-7 work.
Mitchell got dinged up during 1-on-1s and did not return for the rest of team drills. The All-Pro was getting worked on by trainers and put his helmet on, indicating a desire to get back in. However, this time of year, the Eagles are going to remain cautious.
With Jonathan Jones already out with a shoulder injury, second-year player Mac McWilliams got Mitchell’s first-team reps.
The Details

-- The Eagles started team work with a field-goal period. While Jake Elliott was practicing, the wind picked up considerably, and he pushed two kicks to the left. When things went live, Elliott adjusted and made all six of his kicks – from 32, 37, 40, 44, 46 and 50.
The Eagles also tried a pooch punt from Elliott, which Braden Mann nearly downed near the goal line, before it slipped in for a touchdown.
Long snapper Rocco Underwood seemed to be more consistent today with his FG snaps.
-During a bracket drill, Zack Baun had a little fun with Britain Covey, tweaking the WR from the back of the bracket before tackling him after the swipe from the underneath defender. Covey got his revenge on a second rep by using his short-area quickness to slip by Baun untouched.
-- Spent a lot of time watching the RBs trying to hold up in pass pro against the linebackers. It wasn’t pretty with Jihaad Campbell and Smael Mondon standing out.
Campbell dipped around Bigsby with ease, and Mondon had fullback Carson Steele overmatched with speed on two reps. Zack Baun took Barkley on an outside move and undrafted rookie Deontae Lawson used an inside move to dispatch of newcomer Ja’Quinden Jackson.
The best rep for the backs was Barkley handling Mondon on the final opportunity.
-- There was also a competitive 1-on-1 pass-rushing period. Moro Ojomo got the first signature win by using his speed to get past Drew Kendall. Jordan Mailata put together a nice rep to stop Hunt in his tracks while little-known Jose Ramirez used technique and effort to outlast John Ojukwu.
Ty Robinson, who has been a little better in recent days, used a move to beat Jake Majors on two reps and Willie Lampkin had to hold on two occasions against the impressive Ojomo. Markel Bell kept developmental prospect Josh Weru at bay and Tarron Jackson got into the thick of things with an awesome spin move that left Cam Williams in the dust. Jackson also got the better of Ojukwu.
Uar Bernard is still a work in progress and was handled by veteran Michael Jordan and Zion Wilson exploded past Kendall before the inetrior backup responded on a second rep.
-- Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard remains on the Active/PUP list for now with his strained pec and doesn’t appear close to a return. DC Vic Fangio said that Greenard, who was again watching practice intently, will be out at least another couple of weeks.
-- After leaving Monday’s practice early, Lampkin was a full participant on Tuesday, working at both center and guard.
-- The list of those who didn’t practice was: WR Danny Gray (concussion), OLB Keyshawn James-Newby (right ankle), CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder), WR Makai Lemon (hamstring), RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring), WR Johnny Wilson (knee), and S Cole Wisniewski (hamstring). LB Chance Campbell (groin), and Covey (hamstring) remained limited.
-- The offense/defense team drills started with a backed-up period. The Eagles came out in 12 personnel with Dallas Goedert and Johnny Mundt at tight end. The receivers were Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown. Moore came in as the slot WR on third down.
Barkley was able to convert with a few solid runs. The defense responded with the second team when Byron Young bursted through for a safety of Andy Dalton.
Tanner McKee was successful with the threes by finsing Erik Ezukanma on a 3rd-and-2 after Shipley did the dirty work to make it manageable
-- Those returning kicks on Tuesday were Bigsby, Cooper, Covey, Moore, and Brandon Hayes. Interestingly, Shipley was not part of the group.
-- Some other standout defensive plays were Jakorian Bennett recording a nice PBU on Moore and Robinson registering a sack.
On offense, Eli Stowers made some noise with a nice reception early in practice and Dallas Goedert used his body to shield Baun for a nice reception over the middle.
