NFL Draft: Falcons Host Star TCU WR Quentin Johnston For Visit

The Atlanta Falcons are scheduled to have a top-30 visit with TCU receiver Quentin Johnston - who we're told is viewed as the 2023 NFL Draft's top wideout in some circles.

The Atlanta Falcons have scheduled visits with several receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft ... but perhaps none as big as the latest.

Per KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, the Falcons are one of several teams poised to bring TCU receiver Quentin Johnston into their building.

The 6-3, 208-pound Johnston ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at his pro day and was named first team All-Big 12 in each of the past two seasons, the latest coming after logging 60 catches for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns, all team highs.

Sources tell Sports Illustrated's Falcon Report that Johnston is viewed as the draft's top receiver in some league circles.

But, why?

Johnston's TCU teammate Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, who won the Jim Thorpe Award given annually to college football's best defensive back, explained at the NFL Combine ...

“His athleticism,” Hodges-Tomlinson said. “Great athlete, and he’s got size. So, any time you got a receiver like that, it turns out to be a good deal.”

A native of Temple, Texas, Johnston will turn 22 years old just before the start of his rookie season. While at TCU, he was one of the most explosive players in the country, as he averaged 19 yards per catch across three years, the second-highest mark among active players last season.

Earlier this offseason, Falcons coach Arthur Smith, who's historically favored bigger-bodied wideouts, expressed the need to add explosiveness to his offense - and Johnston's pedigree of doing exactly that could play into Atlanta's favor.

Will Johnston go top-10? Perhaps more importantly, will the Falcons consider drafting a receiver with the No. 8 overall selection?

The answer won't be in until Apr. 27, but Atlanta's leaving no stone unturned.
