Jets Expected to Cut Ties With 25-Year-Old Starter

In this story:
Which members of the New York Jets will be back in 2026?
If the upcoming roster decisions are going to be anything like the way the team has handled the coaching staff this offseason, then anything could happen. New York pretty much completely overhauled the coaching staff. Now, the attention is going to turn to the roster over the next few months in preparation for the 2026 National Football League Draft, free agency and the trade market.

The Jets have a handful of internal pieces to think about as the offseason really gets going. The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt shared a column highlighting the top-10 pending free agents for the Jets with insight on each. Jets safety Andre Cisco came in at No. 6 on the list and Rosenblatt reported that he is "unlikely" to return.
The Jets have free agency decisions to make

"No. 6. S Andre Cisco (age 25)," Rosenblatt wrote. "The Athletic had Cisco 76th in its free agency rankings last year and he probably has the same level of stock heading into this offseason, though he is coming off a pectoral injury that cost him nine games. And before the injury, it’s not as if he was performing at his 2023 level (when he had four interceptions for the Jacksonville Jaguars). The Jets’ secondary was wildly inconsistent, with and without him.
"He’ll still only be 26 when next season begins and was solid as a run stopper before his injury, though in coverage he allowed 14 catches on 17 targets with three touchdowns. He can be a starting-caliber safety when he’s healthy, which is enough to draw interest in free agency. He’s unlikely to return as the Jets revamp their safety room."
Cisco was a big get for the Jets last offseason in Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey's first offseason with the franchise. Safety has been an issue for the franchise over the last few seasons and Cisco was signed to help solve it. Unfortunately, he was only able to play in eight games in 2025 and it doesn't sound like there are more coming.
